Greek Basil is an unique, upright growing herb with flavour packed leaves that are good for soups, sauces, and many more dishes in modest amounts. This variety produces very little flowers which allow the leaves to be harvested over a much longer period, and is also suited for growing in small spaces as you get a huge harvest from one plant.
Basil grows great in a container or in the ground with lots of sunshine but can tolerate part shade. Plants growth can be maintained by pinching out the flowers. Basil is generally tolerant of a wide range of soils, but ideally you should provide rich, moist, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter.
You can harvest Greek basil as any time, but small sized leaves are often the best. Leaves and sprigs can be preserved in oil and/or vinegar, or dried and kept in air tight containers.
