Ready to be delivered to you in Nairobi tomorrow or collected from Herbivore Garden Centre in Gigiri, Nairobi.
This egg-shaped succulent has two greenish-greyish leaves and a split down the centre, thus its common name Split Rock. New leaves grow at right angles to the split. “Split Rock” grows well indoors, making it perfect for a windowsill garden.
The plant grows up to 5″ tall and 4″ wide which blooms orange and yellow flowers in mid-afternoon and closes by dusk and will continue for a couple of days.
Split Rock is known for its mimicry. That means that the plant evolves to resemble its environment in the desert. In this case, Split Rock evolved to mimic stones, creating a camouflage to blend in with the soil.
As their natural surrounds, Split Rocks hardly need any watering (once a month), and need to planted in quick draining soil.
